In 1995, Joan Skeels of Hope Farms skillfully wrote the enchanting letter below which convinced us that Odysseus was the right stallion for our Straight Egyptian breeding program. With Hope Farms' 30 years of experience in breeding and showing straight Egyptian arabian horses with good success, we felt confident in our selection of Odysseus as our future herd sire. Over a decade later, we couldn't agree with Joan more!

Dear Elizabeth:
Enclosed you'll find a short video of the yearling gray-white colt by Ansata Shah Zahir; this video was filmed in the latter part of November in his full winter coat. The colt's name is Odysseus; he was bred to be a breeding stallion and with his conformation and pedigree he will be that; whether it's in an Egyptian-related or a straight Egyptian program. *The 1st foal is China.
His sire Ansata Shah Zahir, is by the great Ansata Shah Zaman; so noted for his classic elegance of Arabian type and extreme tail carriage. His granddam, Shah Zahir's dam was Jamila, a great show and broodmare for Don and Judy Forbis. Jamila's dam is a daughter of Sameh, the Egyptian stallion noted for his fluid motion, sharp hock action and smoothness of body line. Ansata Shah Zahir has been a consistent sire of champions, Egyptian top tens, futurity champions, Class A champions plus Regional and East Coast top 5's in both halter and performance. Shah Zahir is truly the classic Arabian stallion.
Aliamah Moniet, Odysseus' dam, is our most beautiful Egyptian Prince daughter, she has most honored broodmare status on our farm. Quiet serene elegance best describes her. A snow white mare with huge black eyes that reflect her soul; she's outstanding in all company. We are retaining both her daughters for the broodmare band and feel proud to offer her colt of equal quality for sale. Aliamah's dam, Rodoniet was many times champion for Bentwood Farms.
Odysseus is line bred to that golden cross of Nazeer and Moniet El Nefous. This colt has quality, movement, stretch and the attitude to compete in today's show ring besides excellent conformation, he has that extra little spark!
I would like you to have the best and to place a darn good Shah Zahir son in Michigan, Elizabeth, and truly believe him to be.
*We began the film unwittingly with the short blip of The Minstril granddaughter China. She is by Alazaar, our many times champion stallion and her dam is a Shaikh Al Badi daughter. She is only 2 months old at the time of filming last August.
Call me when you receive the tape; it is your to keep, I just need to know if you received it and I would like to hear your impressions and if we can be further assistance to you. Sincerely,
Joan Skeels
